This year’s program focused on Food Justice and how we can assist communities in obtaining access to healthy foods while addressing the links between structural racism, nutrition insecurity, and health disparities.
Honoree: We were honored to present Rev. Séamus Finn, OMI, with our Citizen Advocate Excellence Award and paid tribute to the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, who were instrumental as founders of SRIC.
Invited Speakers: Deacon Eugene (Gene) Festa, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Global Fellows Program Speaker ; Mitch Hagney, CEO of LocalSprout, president of the Food Policy Council of San Antonio, and Director of Food Sustainability at the San Antonio Food Bank ; Dr. Ricardo González, Director, Ettling Center for Civic Leadership & Sustainability at the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW)
